  SCIENTIFIC

For all the optical studies that we carry out, the scientific project can break up into four successive stages:

Determination of the characteristics of the source or the initial beam

The study of the characteristics of the source or the initial beam is fundamental because it determines the base of the project which we will carry out.
We obviously read the geometry of the chosen source, but also its total luminous flux like its space distribution of light.

Thanks to these data, we model this source by means of computer so that modeling is nearest possible to reality.

For specific studies, we can, of course, determine the spectrum of the selected source.

Theoretical study of optics

The theoretical study starts with the data-processing installation of the elements in our possession such as: target given by the specifications, maximum overall dimensions, sensors of enumeration, angular sensors, matric sensors of focusing.
Then, we will preliminary work by a manual search on our forms research software "HORUS".

A 3D modelling, from the results of the 2D study, allows our software of optical conception " KHNOUM " to reveal all the optical properties of the studied system.

Effect of a concentror of light placed before the input of an optical fibre

The elements of analysis fed in data during automatic simulations are thoroughly studied. This study often allows us to present to our customers several result equivalent solutions. So, our customers can determine themselves the solution which appears to them the most adapted by taking into account other parameters such as: temperature, style, facility of making, manufacturing cost, etc...

Manufacturing the model

When we have determined with our customers the best solution among those which we have proposed, we make manufacture a model in double specimen (one for our customers, for MEGALUX).
Before this making, we simulate the chosen optics on our 3D simulation software "KHNOUM" starting from the CAD file which will be used by our subcontractor.
The subcontractors approved by MEGALUX exclusively work with a non-disclosure contract.

Comparison between the theoretical study and the model

The model being manufactured, we determine its characteristics on the optical bench:

  • form of the beam,
  • photometry,
  • thermics, and so on...

Thermal model on test bench

These characteristics are compared with the theoretical study.

If doubts appear on the good technological manufacturing of the model, this one can be three-dimensionally controlled.

Then, we can compare theoretical file CAD to CAD file of three-dimensional control.

Moreoverl, thanks to software "KHNOUM", we can compare 3D simulations of these files and check the differences in result between the theory and reality.
